In Genesis 12, God calls a man named Abram from his homeland and graciously grants to him 3 promises: land, offspring, and blessing. These promises were fulfilled immediately to Abraham and his descendants in the Old Testament. They also pointed forward to their ultimate fulfillment in Christ, and all those who trust in Him. God’s promises are progressively revealed in the Old Testament, and ultimately fulfilled in Christ in the New Covenant.
The Bible is one unified story of God’s actions through Christ to save a people for Himself, for His own glory. May we see this story. May we rejoice in it. And may we glory in the God who is its Author.
