The Empty Tomb - 3-19-23
Week after week, we have heard from the gospel of John. Throughout the majority of our study, Jesus has been alive, preaching to the crowds, performing miracles, giving intentional instruction to His disciples, all the while anticipating (and even prophesying) His own death. Then, just a few weeks ago, we reached that moment. Jesus died in the place of sinners. The One who did not deserve death, died, to give life to those who were unworthy to receive it.
But, as we will see this week, Jesus does not remain dead very long in the narrative. This week, we plan to hear from John 20:1-10 as Mary Magdalene, Peter, and John, become witnesses to the empty tomb. Jesus has risen! And 2,000 years later, in a world filled with hatred, corruption, murder, natural disasters, banks going under, and so many other issues, Jesus' death and resurrection remains the most vital message we need to hear on repeat.
