Last and first supper

In our passage this morning, we arrive at a familiar portion of Scripture, the scene of the Last Supper. Yet, this “last” supper, is also a “first” supper. It is the first, Lord’s Supper. In this meal, we have a tradition before us from the Old to the New. Jesus celebrates Passover, while at the same time institutes Communion. During this meal, they celebrated the past, understood the present, and they anticipated the future. This is what should occupy our hearts and minds as we celebrate the Lord’s Supper as well. May God help us do so!
