The open secret

Why do some believe the gospel, and others do not? Paul answered this question in the first chapter in this letter to the Corinthians by pointing to their calling, their being summoned by God into the fellowship of Jesus Christ. Here, he points to the reality that those who are born again, are those who have received the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit indwelling them causes them to come to a convincing comprehension of that which was a mystery for centuries, and has now been revealed, namely God’s plan of redemption culminating in the Person and work of Jesus Christ.

We too should examine ourselves in light of this passage, and ensure we have come to a convincing comprehension of the truths of the gospel. And may we continue to pray that the Holy Spirit will illuminate our hearts and minds to see Scripture’s truth.
